There is a controversy raging in the black community.  It is a controversy over the nature and culture of Jesus.  Some say that he is a good man.  Some say that he is a created being.  Some say that he is a prophet.  Some say the He is the Son of God.  Some say He is fully god.  Some say He is a little lover than God.  Some say that He is black. Some say that he is white.  Some say He is not applicable to their lives, He is a foreign God, used by the Europeans to oppress and enslave the African people.

It should be noted, that the early pictures of Jesus and His mother, were all black like the pictures found below.  These picture have been found to be in the image of Imhotep and his mother and not Jesus.  Imhotep was an African who was the father of Medicine, and the early Africans taught that he was born of a virgin, so when Jesus came, and died, the images of Imhotep were used as representation of Jesus and Mary.

Who Is Jesus?  Let us see what the Bible has to say about his Culture, Nature and His Testimony concerning Himself.

The Culture of Jesus.

Jesus Christ Came in the culture of the Jewish people.  These Jewish people lived on the continent of Africa for 430 years.

Gen 46:26

26        All the souls that came with Jacob into Egypt, which came out of his loins, besides Jacob's sons' wives, all the souls were threescore and six;

Exodus 12:40

40        Now the sojourning of the children of Israel, who dwelt in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years.

66 and if you add the people of Joseph, 77 people went to Egypt and according to the book of Numbers 1:45-47. 603,555 men above 20 came out which would be about 2.5 millions people, including women and children.

{To get families multiply 603, 555 by 4 = roughly 2.5 Million People. ( The Bible REFERS to Men over 20 only.)}

The Historian Heroditus wrote that people in the following areas were considered Ethiopians.

                “According to Homer and Herodotus, the inhabitants of the following territories were Ethiopians: Sudan, Egypt, Arabia, Palestine, Western Asia and India.  The only physical difference in these inhabitants was the texture of the hair.”[i]

Furthermore, all early picture of Christ were done in the image of Imhotep the Egyptian father of Medicine.   It was not until the time of the great classical painters the Jesus and His apostles were represented as Europeans.

We can assume therefore when Christ came he looked like an Egyptian, this then make sense as to why God sends Mary and Joseph to Egypt to hide Jesus. Mat 2:13-15.

Let me remind you however that God can choose to be whatever he wants to be.  God is not limited by time, space, or culture.

If He chooses to appear as white, then he can become white, black or any other color.

If God wants to appear as a Chinese, he can appear as a Chinese.  God is not limited by our Culture, therefore we ought to take the culture  off Christ, and let him be Christ.

The Bible states in the second commandment, that we should not make any graven images.  This commandment was meant to prevent the making of images and sculptures depicting God, because any picture made, would give the wrong impression.  If you make Him black, you belittle the whites, if you make him white, you belittle the blacks, Gods solution is don’t make any golden images.  But we have disobeyed, and created a dilemma which is bringing us nothing but pain and division today.

The Nature of Christ.

John 1:1-3

1              In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2              The same was in the beginning with God. 3. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Col 1:16-19

1:16  For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether [they be] thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:  1:17  And he is before all things, and by him all things

consist.

1 Cor 8:6

 8:6  But to us [there is but] one God, the Father, of whom [are] all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom [are] all things, and we by him.

Heb 1: 1, 2

 1:1  God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,  1:2  Hath in these last days spoken unto us by [his] Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

Rev 3:14

 3:14  And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans

write; These things  saith the Amen, the faithful and true

witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

Jesus Christ is God, He was there at creation, It was he who formed us from the dust of the ground.

Furthermore, He was there at redemption.  He could have created a new man and a new woman, but His love for us would not let Him.  The bible claims He took off His crown of glory, and came to live on earth for 33 years, while here, he left His own Testimony concerning Himself.

THE TESTIMONY OF JESUS

John 8:56-59

56        Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.

57        Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?

58        Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

59        Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

John 10:17-33

17        Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.

18        No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

19        There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings.

20        And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him?

21        Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?

22        And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.

23        And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch.

24        Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.

25        Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.

26        But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.

27        My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

28        And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

29        My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

30        I and my Father are one.

31        Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.

32        Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?

33        The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
